SERVING TOGETHER!
1 Peter 4: 10 – 11
Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another with whatever gift each of you has received. Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.
One of my positions here at Easter Church is the Volunteer Coordinator or finding people to serve - serve in worship, serve in our Confirmation program, serve coffee and donuts after worship, serve at fun events, serve by bringing bars to funerals, serve by mowing the grass and shoveling the snow, to name a few. To run our ministries, we need help. A lot of help. Volunteers are the heart of the church and you know what? It’s fun & cool to serve! Serving promotes spiritual growth in so many ways. Here are a few that I found:
Serving helps us to be more like Jesus. Who better to emulate than Jesus? Enough said…:)
Serving together allows us to discover and develop our spiritual gifts. The church is made up of people with a multitude of different skills and abilities, which means there are SO many cool people to meet and serve alongside!
Serving grows our faith. When you serve, whether it’s greeting before worship, volunteering with our ministry partners, or pulling all the weeds in our lovely gardens all summer, you are serving and that should make you feel great about coming to church. You are a faith filled, servant hearted example of Jesus! You are a blessing! You are appreciated! You are the church!
Serving is good for your soul. People keep coming back to volunteer so it must be soul filling. Whether you can help serve inside the buildings or on the grounds of Easter Church, these ministries are an important way to extend our Christian community’s love and compassion to those around us.

Let’s pray - Hey Lord, Strengthen and sustain all who volunteer in our church and with our ministry partners, that with patience and understanding they may love and care for your people. Grant that they may follow Jesus Christ, offering to you their gifts and talents. For every single person who serves at Easter, I am grateful. Through Him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen
