GET IN THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
Get In the Christmas Spirit: Christmas Story Drive-Through!
[Hint: It’s Fun For Everyone]
Hi everyone, Rachelle here! I’m the Kid’s Ministry Director at Easter Church. Typically during this time of year, fifth and six graders would be preparing for the Christmas Pageant and our youth band would be practicing traditional Christmas songs with the JAM kiddos. I’d constantly hear rounds of “Go Tell it On the Mountain” from across the church, mixed with bursts of laughter - a perfect setting for the holiday season.
I’ve been involved with the Christmas Pageant for over 15 years! Even before I became staff at Easter, my kids looked forward to it. I’ll never forget my daughter excited to play Mary and another playing her clarinet, and the youngest as a preschooler wearing sheep ears on her head singing (actually she was yelling) “Away in a Manger”. So many memories from this great Easter Church tradition.
As we all know, this is a different year. Luckily, in the past few months we’ve gotten pretty darn good at being creative! Easter staff and volunteers have been working hard….so, here’s the plan:
Get ready for an unforgettable drive-through event! You read that right. This event will take place safely outdoors at Easter by the Lake on December 13 at 5 - 7 p.m. Enter from Cliff Road, you will be directed from there, always staying in your warm car.
More than 10 families will be the stars of the show! Each family will act out one of the five different scenes from the Christmas story. This will be a total of more than 40 people!
Volunteers are making this event happen. Instead of the typical five-person set up crew, we will have more than 70 people that have donated items or giving their time! Thank you volunteers!
As a church, we’re excited to tell this amazing story not only to our Easter community, but to everyone. Looking for a way to spread joy and hope to friends, family and neighbor’s this Christmas season? Invite them! And always remember the goal: to grow in faith and carry on the work of Jesus Christ.
Join me in prayer:
Amazing God,
Help us go “over the hills and everywhere” to tell others that Jesus Christ is born! As we prepare our hearts during this Advent season, give us peace and lots of love.
Amen!
