Further Along

Brenda (Misukanis) is warm, friendly, and generous. She cares deeply for her family. Belonging to a church where all ages and backgrounds can be a part of God’s family is important to her as well.

Brenda was raised in a small church with an aging congregation. Her mother brought her to church regularly. “I was going through the motions of attending church,” she remembers. “God was a part of my life, but not in my life”.

Brenda met her husband, Keith, in college. She felt Keith was further along in his knowledge and faith journey. She remembers being nervous about this. Together, they talked, and both wanted to move away from traditional worship styles and find a place to connect and grow. “It was important for us to grow not only as a couple but as a family in our church.”

Brenda and her family were looking for a welcoming church that provided activities for families and kids of all ages. She is happy her children have found a strong faith and church community here at Easter. Her Life Group was the first way they were able to meet and get to know others. “Our life group has had discussions around raising families to know God at a deeper level.” She has felt welcomed, made friends, and enjoyed connecting with others here. She has found her community and a place to explore her faith. “Easter has helped me to deepen my relationship with God, as well as getting to know members of the church.”

Today, Brenda serves on the PDTF (Physical Development Task Force) to bring us together to one site. She is also co-chair of the Information Team for our Capital Campaign. “Being involved in these two committees is important to me,” Brenda said. “I am now at a stage of life where I want to invest back in my church. Easter has given our family such a strong faith foundation. I can see it in my own life and my children’s lives.”
