Context
This week we continue our worship series called “Grow In Faith” by looking at the spiritual practice of giving. The text is found in 2 Corinthians. This is the second letter that Paul wrote to the church in Corinth. He visited them after his first letter, then returned to Jerusalem. Since that time the people of Jerusalem had suffered greatly from a drought. Paul decided to return to all the churches he had planted to collect money from them to help the disciples of Jesus in Jerusalem. Our text in 2 Corinthians is referring specifically to this collection of gifts that Paul is going to receive from the Corinthians when he arrives. He wants them to be ready to give to help their brothers and sisters in need.
