Why Did You Take Down the Christmas Tree??
The second weekend of January, I spent several hours packing up the Christmas tree and all the decorations in our home. The following Monday, my grandson walked into our home and froze in disbelief! “Why did you take down the Christmas tree?” I explained that Christmas was over and so it was time to pack things away until next Christmas. He fell to his knees and started to cry in disbelief. “Why can’t we keep it up forever?” he sobbed.
I think we all get a bit blue when the Christmas decorations disappear every January. Christmastime and all the glowing lights warm my heart and remind me of His eternal light. His light comes to me in the form of hugs from family members, the joy of gift giving, and the warmth we feel as we eat our favorite food.
John 1:4 says, “In Him was life, and that life was the light of all humankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Gracious God,
As we muddle through the rest of the cold and dark Minnesota winter, let us be reminded of the Light of Christmas, and keep His light shining through us all year long.
Amen
