New Year 2023

Happy New Years!

With the New Year comes new resolutions. Many of us will take the time to write this short “wish list”, not giving it much thought. We get motivated and excited to change every habit all at once. Then, we find ourselves right back to where we started, not having made any progress beyond the desire to change.

It’s time to take a step back and reevaluate the kind of resolutions you are making. Why are you making them? What purpose do they serve you, your family, others around you? Or is your list solely about appearance, physical health, and the desire to succeed in materialistic ways?

Let’s change that. Take a look at the list of resolutions below and create one for each category. Reset yourself mentally and emotionally, and then maybe your other habits will follow and your resolution will be successful this year because it’s purpose comes from within.

1. Write a Resolution that is focused on your mental health.

2. Write a Resolution that pertains to your physical health.

3. Write a Resolution that focuses on your spiritual health.

4. Write a Resolution that connects you to your community.

5. Write a Resolution that affects or pertains to a loved one or loved ones.

6. Write a Resolution that is focused on your career.

7. Write a Resolution for a personal goal, don’t be afraid to be selfish.

8. Write a Resolution about something that is new to you.

9. Write a Resolution for an old habit you either want to stop or restart.

10. Write a Resolution centered on awareness of strangers.

11. Write a Resolution with intention on helping others.

12. Write a Resolution that affirms something daily for yourself and/or those around you.

How does it feel to write resolutions that go beyond yourself by taking a look within yourself?

Good luck, may all of your resolutions be long lasting and successful!

Let us Pray:

Dear God, Thank you that you make all things new. Thank you for all that you've blessed us with this past year, for the good, the bad, and the hard moments and times that have reminded us how much we need you and rely on your presence filling us every day.

We pray for your Spirit to lead us each step of this New Year. We ask that you will open doors needing to be opened and close the ones needing to be shut. We ask for help to pursue you first, above every dream and desire you’ve put within our hearts.

We ask for your wisdom, strength, and power to be constantly present within us. We pray you would make us strong and courageous for the road ahead. Give us ability beyond what we feel

able, let your gifts flow freely through us, so that you would be honored by our lives, and others would be drawn to you.

We pray for your protection over our families and friends. Shine your light in us, through us, over us. May we make a difference in this world, for your glory and purposes. Help us to feel love, success, joy, and hope in this new year.

Amen
