Make a Joyful Noise!
Here’s my favorite Bible passage about joyful and noisy worship:
Psalm 100
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth!
Worship the Lord with gladness,
come before Him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
He made us, and we are His,
we are His people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving
and His courts with praise;
give thanks to Him and praise His name.
For the Lord is good and His love endures forever,
His faithfulness continues through all generations.
Have you been to worship lately? Worship in person at Easter has been happening for over a year but just recently, we’ve seen more and more people attending and it’s so good to see faces we haven’t seen in a long time. And along with more adults attending, we get to see more kids!
Kids are an important part of our Easter community and have always been welcomed at worship. We see kids on the prayground at the Lake, coming up front to sit by the Pastors for children’s sermons and kids can even be seen dancing to the music in the aisles - imagine that! Being in the church service shows kids what it looks like to worship, how and why we take Communion and the joy of welcoming a new family member through baptism. They learn through what they experience, but let’s face it, we were all made to worship, and kids naturally know how to do it.
Psalm 98:4 says this, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.” Kids bring an enthusiasm and joy to worship that we as adults often have difficulty displaying. Kids in worship is a beautiful thing. They bring a life and joy that is unique to them. Having them in worship brings all the generations together in one place, all praising and worshiping God together - Hallelujah!
Dear God,
Thank you for the gift of kids. Thank you that we were all made for worship and to be together. Bless our congregation as we make joyful noises and praise your Holy name! Amen.
