Connecting With Our Neighbors

You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven. – Matthew 5:14, 16

Trust me, I know how weird and wild this fall has been. Fall usually finds us all scrambling to reset schedules and revisit priorities. This year feels especially hectic as we continue to navigate an ever-changing pandemic and its effects on our lives. It’s been easy to miss out on what’s happening.

That’s why I want to ask you one more time: have you had a chance to make a gift to our Connecting With Our Neighbors special appeal? You have one more week to share God’s generosity with the wider community by financially supporting new exterior signs at both Easter locations. You can learn more about the project at https://www.easter.org/signappeal. You can also find a gauge for the project to see how close we are – your gifts can help us get the rest of the way.

I realize an exterior, digital sign might not feel like a matter of faith. Let me assure you: communicating with our neighbors, inviting people into our worship and learning spaces, offering loving resources, and keeping our congregation connected absolutely qualify as faith acts. All of these factors came into consideration when we decided to move forward with this project. With better signage that allows us to communicate clearly, we can not only make our presence known in the community but really, fully invite people in. We shine a light on who Easter is and how God is at work among and around us.

With fluctuating construction costs, I really want us to be able to finalize a contract and get moving on the project. That’s why we’ve set September 19 as the last day for the appeal. I hope you’ll prayerfully consider what gift you can share by that date. What is it worth to you to know that Easter can continue to share the good news of Jesus Christ clearly and powerfully right here on Pilot Knob Road? How can you boldly shine a light on the Spirit’s work in this congregation?

That’s not something you want to miss out on!

Let us pray:

God, your Son is the light of life. Shining with his truth, let me bear witness to your power and love in everything I do. Give me the wisdom to speak about you and the confidence to serve others in your name so that everyone would know you though me. Amen.
