CARE ASSESSMENT
Dear readers we need your help!
At Easter Lutheran Church our care ministries continue to grow to better meet the needs of our congregation and the community around us. We are very pleased to share that we are partnering with Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota through a Community Care Corps Grant to continue growing our care ministries.
Our overarching goals are:
1. To better understand the needs of family caregivers, older adults and people with disabilities
2. To better respond to the needs of family caregivers, older adults and people with disabilities and
3. For family caregivers, older adults, and people with disabilities to feel supported by Easter Lutheran Church.
To do this we will begin with a needs assessment. You can complete the survey online or if you need a paper copy please email jpeloquin@easter.org. We want to hear from everyone, especially if you are a family caregiver, elder, person with disabilities, or someone who would like to volunteer with our care ministry team.
As you help us learn how we can better serve you, we will partner with Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota to offer education, training, and support. Two of our members will be trained in Respite Education and Support Tools (REST). REST prepares caregivers and volunteers to provide high-quality care to older adults and people with disabilities and prepares volunteers to understand the needs of family caregivers and how to support them.
We have also started using eight iPads for older adults, caregivers, and people with disabilities as a helpful tool to stay connected during this time of increased isolation.
Thank you for your support as we strive to better understand and meet the needs of our congregation and community.
Please go to easter.org/care to fill out the survey!
In Christ,
Your Caregiver Support Team—
