LENTEN WORSHIP SERVICE – WEEK 2

WARM-UP

Name one silly thing you’re really good at that nobody in this group knows about.

Easter Lutheran Church is better because YOU are a part of it. We believe God has given each of us different gifts for the good of our neighbors and for God’s glory. We are not all the same and that is a good thing!

READ Ephesians 4:1-7, 11-13

I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.

But each of us was given grace according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.

Just as God made some people apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, God made you and gave you different strengths for building up the body of Christ.

RESPOND

  1. What would others (your family or friends) say you are good at? For example:

    • Pr. Brandon’s friends would say, as a farm kid, he is good at growing vegetables

    • Pr. Steve’s friends would say, as an artist, he is good at drawing, and

    • Pr. Megan’s friends would say, as Miss Minnesota, she is super smart, good at interviewing, has talent, and can crush other competitors.

  2. Take a look at the list of possible strengths below. The list is from Articulating Strengths Together by Jerald R. Forster; 2009.  It’s a list is to give you ideas, but if you have a strength not on this list, please feel free to write it in!

  3. Pick one of your strengths. How is God calling you to use that strength for the good of your neighbor?
