Here is a thank you note from Lutheran Social Services for the 2014 drive:
Hi Fellow Ambassadors,
I want to give you an update on our 4th Annual Children’s Clothing Store held this past Saturday at the Center for Changing Lives. We were very pleased to welcome 116 families shopping for 413 family members. These numbers are considerably higher than we have had previously, over 45 more shoppers (families) than last year.
Several of you participated with clothing collections or sock and underwear donations, and for those we are most grateful. Easter Lutheran (Eagan), Grace University Lutheran (Mpls.), Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran (Apple Valley), and Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd (Mpls.), as well as our congregation – Lord of Life in Maple Grove – you are awesome! Even with your help, we were very short on the smaller children’s sizes and socks and underwear. We are meeting with our pastors and the leaders of our project to come up with some ways to increase our gently used clothing donations for next year. If you think your congregation would like to join us next fall in providing children’s clothing for these families, clients of LSS and members of Messiah and St. Paul’s Lutheran Churches, we would love to talk with you further and warmly welcome you into our fall event.
In addition to the clothes, new socks, and underwear, we could use more volunteer help, both with the set-up on Friday afternoon and at the sale on Saturday from about 8:15 to 2:00. The next store date will be October 10, 2015, with the set-up on Friday, Oct. 9th in the afternoon. We would be happy to share our collection and clothes sorting/organization methods with you. We have a pretty efficient process and set-up is very smooth when the clothes are all sorted before being delivered to the Center for Changing Lives. We are very pleased to be able to provide this service for these families in need, and we want to be able to continue to offer them some of the clothes their children need at an affordable price.
If you would like to join us next year, please talk with your congregation’s leadership and let us know if you wish to be included. Gently used (mainly children’s) winter clothing, new socks and underwear, and volunteers (there will be a limit on this, so we aren’t tripping over each other, but we could use several more on both days) are all needs we have. Please prayerfully consider this service opportunity.
