How to Help Make the Shelter a Success

  • Prepare and Help Serve Dinner at the Shelter
There are two ways to help at the meals:
Biggest need is meal prep Monday-Thursday:  Sign up to help prepare and/or serve dinner
Or sign up to provide food, prep-work, cooking and serving: Sign up to provide a meal
  • Donate Specific Food Items and Quantities
Matrix is requesting some food for the shelter guests. We appreciate your generosity! Due to lack of storage space, please respect the quantities requested. Check back every few days as the needs may be changing. Sign up to donate specific food items
  • Donate Shelter Supplies
If you or your group are interested in donating supplies for the shelter, you can see what we currently need here.  That site also includes information about where and when you can drop off supplies. Please check this site regularly because it will be updated as needs change throughout the winter.
  • Shelter Aid
Help staff prepare for opening, assist with guest check-in, visit with guests, distribute supplies, assist staff with cleaning and other duties. Sign up to be a Shelter Aid
  • Laundry Squad
Laundry squad volunteer instructions: Pick up laundry at the shelter between 7:15 and 8:00 am on the date for which you have signed up. Wash, dry, and fold the laundry. Return the laundry within two days during regular shelter hours (6:00 p.m – 8:00 a.m.) At pick up you will receive bags of laundry to be washed, and plastic bins for returning the clean folded laundry.  Sign up to help with laundry
  • Shelter Moving Crew
Volunteers will pack up all shelter supplies and help move them to the next location. We will have a large truck available for each move. Volunteers are also encouraged to bring pickups, minivans, and SUVs if available. Sign up to help move the Shelter
