How Does It Work?

  • Good in the ‘Hood hosts shoe drives and collections from churches, businesses, schools, civic organizations and individuals in order to procure a wide array of gently used footwear
  • One of the primary partnering donors is Schuler Shoes -each year Schuler Shoes contributes thousands of pairs of used shoes and returns
  • The very best of these donated shoes are displayed on a school bus that has been converted into a mobile shoe store
  • High quality shoes of all sizes are offered on the bus-mobile to shoppers for a suggested donation of $5.00 per size 7 and up pair, and $2.00 for size 0-6.5 pair
  • For every pair of shoes that are sold, Good in the ‘Hood is able to feed another person with up to 7 days of essential groceries
  • Simply purchase your food from Fare For All and proceed out to the parking lot and check out the Shoe Bus; with $20 spent at Fare For All, you get a $1 discount on shoes
  • Payment may be made with cash or credit card
  • You may also donate new or gently used shoes at the bus
  • The free Community Meal will begin at 5 p.m. during Fare For All and Shoe Away Hunger.  Learn more about the Community Meals here
