Mission Outreach

Share the gospel with more people expanding our mission efforts locally and globally. Care for more people with needs, for those within the “household of faith,” and for those outside the church community. Below are the many opportunities we offer.

Global Missions Committee
Develop plans, goals and actions for carrying out the vision and mission of Easter’s global mission ministry. Time commitment: meets monthly. Contact: Pastor Paul

Tanzania Outreach
Promote Easter’s relationship with our companion congregation, Nyanzwa, in the Iringa Diocese, Tanzania. help coordinate activities and communications with the parish. Time commitment: varies. Contact: Pastor Paul

Ilula Medical Center Task Force
Represent Easter Church on the Ilula Task Force. Time commitment: up to one meeting per month. Contact: Pastor Paul

World Hunger Team
Educate others (through events, displays and newsletter articles) about world hunger and encourage action by helping coordinate fund appeals and legislative action. Hunger appeal typically happens in November. Time commitment: about 6-8 hours per project; Bread for the World liason, 1 hour per month; program coordinator, 24 hours per year.  Contact: Pastor Paul

Mission Travel-Tanzania
Meet the people of Easter’s companion congregation, visit Tumainin University and enjoy Ruaha National Park. Contact: Pastor Paul

Mission Travel-Guatemala
Meet the people of Easter’s companion congregation, El Salvador del Mundo in the community of El Mirador, Guatemala. Contact: Pastor Kevin

Global Health Ministry Task Force
Coordinate volunteer activities with GHM and communication with Easter Church.

Feed My Starving Children Liaison
Coordinate communication and opportunities for involvement with the Eagan site of this third world food distribution agency. Time commitment: varies.

Feed My Starving Children Volunteers
Package food to be sent overseas. Sign up for an evening shift in the Happenings Book. Time commitment: 2 hours per shift.

Social Justice/Service Committee
Develop plans, goals and actions for carrying out the vision and mission of Easter’s service and social justice ministry. Time commitment: meets monthly.

Dakota Woodlands
Promote Easter’s connection with Dakota Woodlands transitional housing community. Time commitment: varies.

B. Robert Lewis House
Deliver canned goods and shop for food to be used for Thanksgiving dinner. Time commitment: 2-3 hours in November.

Giving Tree
Plan yearly collection of Christmas gifts for families in need in collaboration with the Eagan Resource Center. Plan publicity, collect gifts at Easter, and deliver gifts to the ERC in early December. Time commitment: several hours in November and December.

Helping Hands Ministry
Work with local churches and agencies in hands-on construction/renovation in housing needs. Time commitment: 3-4 projects per year, 4-8 hours per project.

Loaves and Fishes Food Ministry
Prepare and/or serve a meal for 100+ homeless and needy people. Teams cook, prep or serve food and clean up. Time commitment: 2-5 hours per meal, up to 6 meals per year.

Eagan Resource Center
Deliver nonperishable food items from Easter to the Eagan Resource Center and provide information for distribution to the congregation. Time commitment: 1 hour per deliver, once or twice a month. Contact: Maureen Wilson

CATCH (Coalition for Affordable Transitional Community Housing)
Maintain an Eagan townhouse sponsored by Easter and used by families in housing transition (e.g. clean-up, painting, minor repairs, etc.) Time commitment: varies, usually one time a year.  2011 Brochure

MICAH (Metropolitan Interfaith Council for Affordable Housing)
Be an advocate for affordable local housing an a liaison to MICAH. Time commitment: meets monthly.

Quilting
Make quilts to be given to organizations such as Lutheran World Relief and battered women’s shelters. Time commitment: Monday mornings, 9:30-11 a.m. Contact the church office.
