Confirmation

Confirmation GroupIn Confirmation, students explore the Christian faith and take personal ownership of the promises made on their behalf by parents, sponsors and the church at baptism. Easter’s confirmation program utilizes:

* Large group religious learning
* Small group faith discussion
* Family faith practice
* Individual spiritual growth and service

Make sure to mark your calendars for our fall kick off dates. Confirmation
schedules are available online on the Easter website www.easter.org
(learn/confirmation). All confirmation classes are held at Easter by the Lake. Students, parents and mentors should attend their kick off meeting.

7th Grade Wednesday Session – Wednesday, September 7, 6 p.m.
8th Grade Wednesday Session – Sunday, September 11, 6:30 p.m.
9th Grade – Sunday, September 11, 6:30 p.m.
10th Grade – Wednesday, September 7, 7:30 p.m.

Confirmation Camp Students – our first COGS is on Sunday, Sept. 11, 12:30 p.m.

Fall Confirmation Retreats:
7th Grade September 23-24
8th Grade September 16-17
9th Grade – retreat is held in the spring
10th Grade – choose one of the two retreat options: Sept. 17-18 or Sept. 24-25. Call the church office at 651-452-3680 to schedule a retreat date.

Confirmation Group doing Service Service and Growth
As part of the confirmation program, students are required to complete 40 hours of service and 25 hours of growth prior to their confirmation. See the 2011-12 Confirmation Service and Growth Brochure for details. Download a confirmation service form or growth form.

Mentor Groups
We use mentor groups to support youth and encourage the development of the community of faith. Students in the confirmation program will be assigned an adult mentor. Mentor groups consist of five to six students. Mentors are assigned according to gender: men to boys; women to girls.

Communion
Students are offered First Communion instruction beginning in their 5th grade year. All confirmation students are encouraged to complete first communion instruction by their 9th grade year.

Confirmation Opportunities for Growth and Service (C.O.G.S.)
C.O.G.S. is held one Sunday a month, at Easter by the Lake, September through April. Summer camp confirmation students and mentors are required to attend C.O.G.S. Parents are always invited as well as Wednesday night confirmation students and mentors. The events are excellent service and growth opportunities for all ages. C.O.G.S. is provided specifically to gather all mentor groups on a regular basis.  2011-2012 C.O.G.S. schedule.
