Option: Early First Communion

Children whose parents feel they are ready for Holy Communion before 5th grade may attend the Early First Communion Class, offered in late January and early February. Parent attendance at each session and some out-of-class work is required. A pizza lunch is available during class time.

Because this is short and introductory in nature, and because the family will continue to be a primary source of support during these crucial years of faith development, we require that at least one parent (or guardian) attend two sessions of the class with the student.

Parents attend all three instruction periods with their children; and it is assumed that parents will continue the dialogue of First Communion instruction with their children at home. There is a book entitled “Come To God’s Table” that is meant to help parents continue the faith dialogue at home.

After completion of this class, the student is welcome to commune regularly with the community of faith.
