10th Grade Year

“Continuing to grow in faith and carry on the work of Jesus Christ” As our mission statement proclaims, Christian faith does not end, but continues to grow and mature. Students are asked to reflect upon their faith and apply their faith to their life experiences. This is a 6-week course.

Completion of Service and Growth Hours

The required service and growth hours must be completed by the first week of September in order to be eligible for the fall Rite of Confirmation service.

Confirmation Final Retreat

This overnight retreat is designed to put it all together before declaring personal Christian faith and the affirmation of Baptismal promises. Attendance at this retreat is a requirement for confirmation.

The Rite of Confirmation

This service is conducted on Reformation weekend (the last Saturday/Sunday of October) and All Saints weekend (first Saturday/Sunday in November). It is preceded by a rehearsal on Saturday. (An alternate spring confirmation service may be available as warranted.)

This marks the high point of formal catechetical study. It is not, however, the end of religious education. Each of us is engaged in a life-long process of growth in faith and understanding. Having been instructed in the basics, the confirmed person has the tools with which to continue that study.

Why We Confirm in Tenth Grade

The Church has recommended and we have experienced that the older a young person is when he/she makes his/her personal commitment to faith, the more mature and lasting that faith commitment will be.

Confirmation Extra’s

Inclement Weather Policy
Easter Church will cancel all youth activities for the day whenever ISD #196 (Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan) cancels school, closes early, or cancels evening activities on that day. If church programs are in session and the weather makes driving difficult, please use your best judgment to decide if you feel it is safe for you to travel to church. If your child will not be attending confirmation or handbell choirs, please contact his/her mentor or choir director at home.

We Expect...

* Families to worship regularly, and parents to support their child's faith development in the home.

* Parents to model the Christian faith for their children to the best of their ability.

* Students to work up to their God-given ability, and to be discerning of their spiritual gifts in how they can "grow in faith and carry on the work of Jesus Christ."

* Attend class sessions and all retreats. If conflicts with the confirmation program arise, the pastoral staff and mentors need to be informed.

Fees: (2011-2012)

7th grade: Wednesday-night session. $145/year; Summer Camp option $435

8th grade: Wednesday-night session. $120/year; Summer Camp option $410

9th grade: $130
(there is no summer camp option in gr. 9)

10th grade: $130 (includes costs for robe rental and photographs)
